🧾 Job Check Process (After AEWV Accreditation)

Once you are an accredited employer, the next step in hiring a migrant under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) is to apply for a Job Check with Immigration New Zealand (INZ).

βœ… What is a Job Check?

The Job Check verifies:

  • The genuineness of the job offer
  • That the job meets AEWV policy requirements
  • That the labour market test (if required) has been completed

πŸ“‹ Job Check Requirements

  • Employment Agreement – Must comply with NZ employment law and match the job advertisement
  • Job Description – Including duties, skills required, location, and hours
  • Evidence of Advertising – Unless exempt (e.g., Green List jobs or roles paying twice the median wage)
  • PAYE Registration Evidence – To prove you’re a genuine employer
  • NZBN and IRD number

πŸ’° Job Check Fee (as of 2025)

  • Fee: NZD 610
  • Paid at the time of submission through the Immigration NZ portal

⏳ Job Check Processing Time

  • Average time: 10 to 25 working days
  • May be faster for Green List roles or those not requiring a labour market test

πŸ” After Approval

Once approved, you’ll receive a Job Token to give to your selected overseas candidate, who will then apply for the AEWV using that token.

πŸ“Œ Labour Market Test (When Required)

If the job is not on the Green List and pays below twice the NZ median wage:

  • You must advertise the role on a national NZ job board (e.g., Seek, Trade Me) for at least 2 weeks
  • Provide proof that no suitable New Zealanders were available for the position
